Occlusion and everyday dentistry
Staff I – The base Dr François Prévost
Profile
More dental structure is now lost due to aging and premature wear than to decay. Patients can brush their teeth and floss all they want… their teeth are still at risk for deterioration and most patients show signs of premature aging and wear. Patients don’t want to have to repair their teeth anymore. They want them to stay healthy and undamaged. Dental structure preservation is a daily challenge and patient education is a team effort.
Objectives
This course leads to an understanding of the masticatory system as a unified entity. It will help us establish and understand the links between various observable signs and symptoms linked with malocclusion as well as identify their probable causes.
Content
We’ll learn everything about occlusion, the TMJ, the involvement of the muscles in the masticatory system and the team’s role in identifying at-risk patients. We’ll observe the role of the bite splint and come to understand the advantages of dental equilibration.
